Supported by Toni & Guy Tunbridge Wells & Moog Royale
Thursday 27th August 2009 sees the return of the Therapy Room Comedy Club Tunbridge Wells. Resident Compere Stephen Upsall introduces Tony Law and David Whitney.
TONY LAW
Like a rolling ball of funny with bits flying out of it, Tony Law’s infectious comedy will leave you stranded in a hilarious field of ideas. Half Canadian, half Trinidadian, Tony spent many years developing his unique, scattergun, surreal style.
His laid back ‘acid-casualty’ approach, combined with scorching jokes and incisive remarks, have endeared him to both live and TV audiences here and abroad. He’s a favourite face at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In Spring 2009 Tony went on his first-ever national solo tour, with a second leg added for Autumn 2009. In addition to that Tony will support Stewart Lee on his latest tour in the second half of this year.
"hugely entertaining"

"Law’s genius for the random makes Salvador Dali look about as abstract as Constable … he’s maintained an intellectual’s eloquence"
The Metro
"surreal and special, Tony Law lives in his own little world. Drop in for a while, if you’re prepared to let yourself be dragged through it, you’ll leave much happier than when you came in"
Edinburgh Evening News
"a top-notch comic who marries a powerful delivery with some deceptively ingenious material"

DAVID WHITNEY
Scottish born Comic David Whitney got his first gig at the Friars Club Beverly Hills as a result of a series of lies that meant he couldn't get out of it. It went very well and on his return home decided take it up full time, only to find Londoners a lot harder to please than the Yanks. Since then he has gone on from strength to strength, performing prolifically all over the UK.
David Whitney is a graduate of the Mitch Benn school of delivery; a powerful baritone who hectors the audience into listening by sheer force of conviction. It’s very theatrical and demonstrably effective.
And to top it all off David is one of the talents behind Channel 4's show Fone Jacker.
"He’s got a well-defined sense of comedy which – when delivered with the impassioned hard sell he gives to all his routine – guarantees laughs. There are certainly a genuine spirit of fun in his set"

"you can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him"
