Thursday 24th September 2009 resident Compere Stephen Upsall welcomes Marcel Lucont and Paul Kerensa to the Therapy Room Comedy Club Tunbridge Wells
MARCEL LUCONT
Marcel Lucont is France’s premier misanthropist and lover. The self-published, self-award-winning author from Roubaix, Northern France, is currently residing in London. His blend of sardonic wit and Gallic charm has attracted acclaim from several critics, and several women. Sometimes both at once.
Marcel has talked at crowds all over the world, including the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Launch Party and ComedyBox Live (as compere), but has finally settled in England, as the quality of the payment just about makes up for the quality of the food and wine.
So far this year Marcel has appeared in his first solo show, ‘Marcel Lucont: Sexual Metro’ at both the Adelaide Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe in 2009.
TimeOut
"deadpan delivery and surreal musings – a stand-up star of the future"
The London Paper
"nothing could prepare us for the superb Marcel Lucont. He is devastating in his smooth, laconic French dismissal of Australian lack of sexual sophistication"
Rip It Up Magazine
PAUL KERENSA
Ginger Cornishman Paul Kerensa has established himself as one of British comedy's leading young talents, both as a writer and a comedian. In just a few short years he has become a regular at the UK's biggest venues, and a popular and reliable headline act, and one of the few acts to play to both stag parties at Jongleurs and vicars’ conferences. Within a few months of his first gig, Paul emerged to win ITV's 'Take The Mike' stand-up competition in 2002. He made his Edinburgh debut in 2005 with 26 – based around the American action show 24 – and returned in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
As a writer for TV and radio, he co-wrote Not Going Out with Lee Mack, Simon Evans and Andrew Collins and has worked on The News Quiz, Dead Ringers, The Now Show and After You’ve Gone.
