Kerry Godliman

"Deadpan humour and fierce intelligence" Scotsman

Nick Helm

Therapy Room Comedy Club
Thursday 28th April 2011. Doors open 7pm, Show starts 8.3opm.

Thursday 28th April sees the return of the Therapy Room Comedy Club to the Old School House. Compere Lloyd Griffith introduces Markus Birdman, Stuart Goldsmith & David Whitney.

There’s a lot of quirky charm to Markus Birdman; a man at a slight angle to the universe, to coin a phrase.

He was once self-consciously wacky, but nowadays any zany tendencies are carefully regulated, making for a more straightforward set that benefits from the new focus.

And just as the gags are left-field without being too weird; the delivery is cheery without being too ingratiating.

Markus Birdman

Stuart Goldsmith's infectious banter channels the effortless charisma and quick-fire timing honed over a youth misspent as a street-performer.

Stuart is simply brilliant with anecdotes galore displaying a wonderfully inventive, playful and deeply individual look at sex, sexuality , relationships , and the posher end of the canine world.

Stuart Goldsmith

Scottish born Comic David Whitney got his first gig at the Friars Club Beverly Hills as a result of a series of lies that meant he couldn't get out of it. It went very well and on his return home decided take it up full time, only to find Londoners a lot harder to please than the Yanks.

David’s material is a fine blend of political satire and pure filth, making him the thinking persons comic.

Thursday 31st March sees the return of the Therapy Room Comedy Club to the Old School House. Compere Lloyd Griffith welcomes Bob Mills, Brett Goldstein & Craig Murray.

Bob Mills is a true elder statesman of British stand-up comedy. The man who bridged the gap between the first wave of “alternative comedy” in the mid-eighties and the new laddism of the early ’90s, star Bob Mills is as popular today as when he first strolled on to the comedy circuit in 1985.

Whether you like to be spoon fed your gags or have your views challenged,Bob is definitely a must see act for the connoisseur of comedy.

Bob Mills

Brett Goldstein is a performance dynamo, with punchily amusing material to match. His set has a pace and energy that can generate a high-voltage spark in even the quietest gigs, ensuring the perfect presentation for his gag-driven material.

"He’s a sharp operator who deftly twists expectations for off-kilter punchlines that catch the audience unawares..." - Chortle

Brett Goldstein

Hailing from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire (a town otherwise famous for international terrorists, fake kidnaps and 'Britain's Best Market'), charming northerner Craig Murray is currently one of the hottest rising talents on the comedy circuit.

An instant crowd pleaser with a charismatic, mock-confrontational style.

Thursday 25th February sees the return of the Therapy Room Comedy Club to the Old School House. Compere Lloyd Griffith is joined by Alistair Barrie, Ian Smith & Chris Martin.

Actor and comedian Alistair Barrie has been performing professionally for nearly an entire century (this one). Much in demand as both a headline act and MC across the international circuit, he has played all over the world.

"Brilliantly funny" The Guardian

"Barrie's analytical nous and store of snappy gags mark him out...Excellent"
The Independent

Alistair Barrie

Like many people his age Ian Smith has a magnificent head of hair. Unlike most people who are just about old enough to drink in America, Smith is a three year veteran of the circuit racking up a plethora of prestigious podium finishes in comedy competitions for Comedy Central, Chortle, Reading Comedy Festival, You Must Be Joking and English Comedian of the Year. The amiable 21 year delivers his downbeat observations and uniquely warped trains of thought in a dry conversational style. A smooth operator with a big future.

Ian Smith

Chris Martin is one of the newest and most exciting acts to hit the comedy circuit. His wholly original social commentary, observations and anecdotes are his trade mark. He brings intelligent material as well as simple immature jokes to any room.

"Tight, well structured, funny and original… Solid stand-up set with attention to gags"
Chortle
